To upload your website to the server you will need an FTP program (All
example images in these instructions use WS-FTP LE).
When configuring the FTP program, your website or hostname is your
domain (www.yourname.com, etc.). The username and password were provided
by the salesperson who you purchased the website from.
Once you have all the proper information, click OK to connect to the
website. When you first connect to the website you will see a "web"
folder on your site. Place all content, that you want accessible from
the internet, into this folder. For a default document, use index.html.
Items placed in the "web" folder are visible to the internet.
For instance, if you have image.jpg in your "web" folder,
the address to access this file would be http://www.yourname.com/image.jpg.
If you create a folder in the "web" directory named "images"
and put the file in this folder, the address would be http://www.yourname.com/images/image.jpg.
The "web" folder is your root directory and does need to be
listed when typing in the domain address.
You can access your domain website with Frontpage
, if you choose. Before you can use Frontpage, you will need to call in so that we can enable this usage. If you have any
problems with Frontpage posting site information, please call in and we can have the Frontpage
extensions rebuilt.
