To change the VPI/VCI on the Alcatel 1000 you will
need to change your computer’s Local Area Network IP address
settings to the following:
IP Address: 10.0.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Once you make this change and reboot the computer (if necessary)
open up a web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, etc.).
In the address bar type in this address:
http://10.0.0.138/
This will bring up the Alcatel introduction screen. Once this screen
loads click on the Bridge
link.

The next screen displayed is the Port Stats screen. Locate the area
labeled Use input fields below to add
a new entry. Beneath the VPI
column enter a 0 and beneath the VCI
column enter 35. Once this is complete click on the
Add button.
This will add the new port to the configuration. The new port should
be displayed beneath the old port. Click Delete
next to the row that contains the VPI
of 8 and the VCI
of 35.

Once the 8/35 row is deleted click on the Save
button to the right. This will save the new settings and complete
the configuration process.

When the setup is complete change your IP address settings back to
the original settings to begin surfing the Internet.
