DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. This technology offers high-bandwidth (fast) access speeds over standard telephone cabling. There are many forms of DSL available today. Access US offers the three most common forms: ADSL, SDSL, and IDSL.

ADSL

ADSL stands for Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line. This DSL technology offers faster download speeds and slower upload speeds over standard voice telephone lines. ADSL is the most common form of residential DSL as it offers excellent web-browsing, e-mail capabilities, and easy installation for a lower price.

  • Speed Range: 384 to 6,000 (maximum) Kbps
  • Available Distance: <18,000 feet
  • Price Range: $34.95 to $159.95

SDSL

SDSL stands for Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line. This technology offers same-rate upload and download speeds. SDSL is more commonly used in business applications as it offers greater reliability and faster upload speeds. These features require upgraded (Cat-5) cabling and higher cost to maintain.

  • Speed Range: 192 to 1536 (maximum) Kbps
  • Available Distance: <18,000 feet
  • Price Range: $149.95 to $349.95

IDSL

IDSL stands for ISDN Digital Subscriber Line. This DSL product is used by people who are at a location greater than 18,000 feet. IDSL travels over ISDN (digital telephone) lines and requires special installation points at the end location. The transfer rate is comparable to a standard ISDN dial-in line.

  • Speed Range: 144 (maximum) Kbps
  • Available Distance: <27,000 feet
  • Price Range: $99.95
