The following are step-by-step instructions for configuring the Apple iMac for use with Access US dial-up.

  1. Locate the Assistants folder on your hard drive, open it, and double-click on the Internet Setup Assistant icon.



  2. Click on Yes.



  3. Click on Yes.



  4. Click on the right arrow button.



  5. For the configuration name, type in AccessUS.
    For the connection type, select Modem.
    Then click on the right arrow button.



  6. If the correct modem and port are not already listed, click on the vertical arrows to select them from the pull-down menus.
    Choose the type of dialing your phone line uses (probably Tone).
    If you use a voice mail service which generates a "stutter tone" on the phone line to let you know you have messages, you may want to check the Ignore Dial Tone box. When that information is selected, click the right arrow button.



  7. For the phone number, enter your Local Access Number that was given to you. If you do not have that number, or look up your access number on our Local Access Dialups webpage.
    Leave out the area code unless it is different than your own.
    For the user ID, enter your user ID (your e-mail address) using only lowercase letters. Be sure to include the @accessus.net.
    For the password, enter your password.
    Then click on the right arrow button.




  8. Select No.
    Then click the right arrow button.



  9. Select No..
    Then click on the right arrow button.



  10. In the DNS Address box, type 209.145.150.10 and hit Return on your keyboard.
    Then type 209.145.176.20.
    In the Domain Name box, type accessus.net
    When that information has been entered, click on the right arrow button.



  11. For the e-mail address, type username@accessus.net in all lowercase letters. Replace username with your user ID.
    For the e-mail password, type in your password.
    Leave the "greater than" symbol in the last box, and click on the right arrow button.



  12. For your e-mail account, type in username@mail.accessus.net in all lowercase letters. Replace username with your user ID.
    For the e-mail host, type in mail.accessus.net and then click on the right arrow button.



  13. For the news group host, if there is anything already in this field, delete it. Type in news.accessus.net Then click on the right arrow button.



  14. Select No.
    Click on the right arrow button.



  15. If you would like to connect to the Internet immediately, check Connect When Finished.
    Click on Go Ahead.



  16. You are now ready to connect to Access U.S.
